If you’ve ever worked in an office you will most probably relate to the feeling of “being cooped up”. No matter how beautiful your office environment is (and we arguably have the most stunning office view in Portsmouth) or how well your colleague makes your skinny cappuccino, we all need to get out and stretch our legs once in a while.
Not only is it crucial for our mental and physical wellbeing, it can be an ideal way to strengthen relationships with your team mates away from the stress and confines of the office.
More importantly, research has shown how sitting for long periods at our desks can lead to feelings of fatigue, decreased concentration and reduced productivity. And that’s something we can’t afford to happen when have so many amazing clients who depend on us to meet key deadlines.
Creative minds need stimulation! The act of physically moving can unlock your creativity and help you approach challenges with a fresh perspective. The way we see it, embracing the power of a lunchtime walk will serve as a tool to fuel our imagination and enhance our problem- solving abilities.
So, this summer we are pledging to take our sandwiches outside, feed the crumbs to the seagulls, say hi to some of the local artists and beach-goers, and give our bodies and minds a chance to recharge.
Now, we just have to make sure we all have our comfy trainers packed in our bags as a back-up!
“Creativity is piercing the mundane to find the marvellous.” Bill Moyers
