Our lead designer, Glenn Alexander, is a keen cyclist, riding into work most days and often heading into the forest to enjoy mountain bike trails at weekends. Glenn and some of his fellow cycling enthusiast pals, have decided to combine their passion for biking with seizing an opportunity to raise money for a very worthy children’s charity. They’ve signed up to take part in an alternative triathlon charity event to raise funds for Action Medical Research for Children.
On 10th June, Glenn, Phil, Andy and Pete, with the team name ‘Garway Globetrotters’ will all head to Wales to take part in the ’Race the Brecons 2023’ challenge. This is an extremely tough dawn to dusk event where the four will join other teams and attempt to cycle 35 miles to climb 1000m around the incredible winding lanes of the Brecons, navigate a 2-mile kayak course, and finally hike to the summit of Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons with an altitude of 886m. This will be a huge challenge to Glenn and the team, but one they are determined to gear up to and conquer.
Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide charity saving and changing children’s lives through medical research. For 65 years, they’ve helped pioneer ways to prevent disease and develop treatments benefiting millions of people. The charity’s research has helped to beat polio in the UK, develop ultrasound, fight meningitis and prevent stillbirths. An amazing charity, doing great things and relying on donations and the public’s generosity.
